Toy Company Enters Ring with Hit Cartoon Network Show
NEW YORK – May 29, 2009 – Think Wow Toys, a division of WowWee USA Inc., today announced the lead items in its new Thumb Wrestling Federation: TWF product line, a wacky collection of thumbtastic figures, plastic play sets, and trading cards based on the action-packed show’s zany contestants. Available this fall, the line will land a piledriver at retail with super soft character thumb-puppets, a wrestling ring with padded thumb holes, and a champion display case sold separately and as deluxe sets. As a toy licensee, Think Wow Toys will have worldwide marketing and distribution rights, excluding the United Kingdom. The company will launch the TWF line with an aggressive fall media, promotion and grassroots marketing effort that will include television and internet components, and regional thumb wrestling competitions which will culminate with the selection of a national winner in spring 2010.
Talking action figures, more thumb masks, and large plush Thumb Wrestling Federation collectibles will also be available next spring.
The Thumb Wrestling Federation TV series launched in the U.S. on Cartoon Network, Monday through Friday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. EST, as part of a "Thumbtastic Afterschool Event" and more recently airs Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST as part of the "Saturday Crush Zone." The live-action wrestling bouts, which are hosted by thumb commentators, Dick Thompson and retired TWF wrestler Colonel Cossack, have continued to build a strong following of boys 6-11.
TWF is produced by Animation Collective, and Al Ovadia & Associates serves as worldwide licensing agent.
